Alleged meth dealers plead not guilty in California
Two men pleaded not guilty Friday after landing in jail for selling crystal meth to an informant who tipped off the San Mateo County, California Sheriff’s Department.
Moises Estrada, 29, is facing up to four years in prison for his part in the sale of five pounds of the crystal meth. Oscar Lara Martinez, 21, is facing two additional charges for selling cocaine to the informant.
On July 17 and Aug. 12 this year, Martinez sold cocaine twice to the informant for $300 each time. The informant then asked Martinez for something bigger and better, said California Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Martinez arraigned for the sale of five pounds of crystal meth on Nov. 6 and brought Estrada with him. The two were arrested by California undercover agents from the San Mateo County, California Narcotics Task Force in the Redwood City, California Costco parking lot — where the deal was set to take place.
The two only had a pound of meth with them and California police were unable to locate additional drugs during a subsequent search of Estrada’s home.
Estrada remains in custody on $500,000 bail and Martinez remains in custody for $750,000. Both return to court on Feb. 9.
